Discount codes let you offer promotions, reward communities, or run partner campaigns. You create the codes in your dashboard and participants enter them at the payment step of checkout. Each code can be as broad or specific as you need — all events, a single ticket type, or anything in between.

Creating a discount code

Go to MarketingDiscount codes and click Create discount code. The form is split into sections; fill them in from top to bottom.

Code setup

You can create one code at a time or import many codes at once from a CSV file.
1

Choose single or bulk

Select the Single code tab to create one code, or the Import bulk tab to upload a list. For a single code:
  • Code — the text a participant types at checkout. Spaces are removed automatically and the code is stored uppercase. Make it memorable but not guessable.
  • Internal code name — an optional label visible only to you, useful for grouping codes by campaign.
  • Internal description — a short note to remind you what this code is for.
For bulk import:Download the CSV template using the Download template link, fill in your codes in the Codes column (one per row), then drag the file into the upload area. The platform checks for duplicates against existing codes before you save. Any duplicates are flagged so you can remove them from the file and re-upload.

Discount calculation

1

Set the discount type

Choose how the discount is calculated:
  • Transaction discount — the code reduces the total order once at checkout.
  • Entry discount — the code reduces the price of each qualifying ticket in the order. You can optionally cap how many entries it applies to per transaction using Limit per transaction.
2

Set the discount amount

Choose % for a percentage off or the currency symbol for a fixed amount off.
  • Percentage: enter the percentage and, optionally, a maximum discount cap (the most the code can take off a single transaction).
  • Fixed amount: enter the exact amount to deduct.
3

Choose what the discount applies to

Tick at least one item type:
  • Tickets
  • Booking fee
  • Merch & add-ons
  • Booking form items
If your organizer account has a membership scheme, a Memberships option also appears. Membership discounts cannot be restricted to specific events, races, or tickets — the event restriction section is disabled when you select this option.

Usage limits

Both limits are optional. Leave them blank for unlimited use.

Availability

1

Restrict to specific events (optional)

By default a code works across all your events. Click Choose selection to restrict it to specific events, occurrences, races, or ticket types. Once saved, the selection is shown as View selection.
2

Set a start date (optional)

Tick Add a start date, then pick a date and time. The code won’t be accepted at checkout before this point.
3

Set an expiry date (optional)

Tick Add an expiry date, then pick a date and time. The code stops working at the end of that day in your local timezone.

Affiliate commission (optional)

If you want to track and reward a partner for driving sales, turn on Link code to affiliate. You’ll be asked for:
  • Affiliate name — a display name for the partner.
  • Affiliate email address — where commission notifications go.
  • Commission — either a percentage of the booking value or a fixed amount per redemption.
Affiliate name, email, and commission type cannot be changed after you save the code. Double-check these before creating.

Save

Click Create to publish the code. It becomes active immediately (or on the start date if you set one).

What participants see

Participants enter the code on the payment page during checkout. The field sits below the order summary. If the code is valid, the discount is deducted and the updated total is shown before they pay. If the code is invalid or not applicable to their order, they see an inline error such as:
“Discount not applied: Sorry, this code cannot be used towards this event”
A participant can remove the code and try a different one before completing payment.

Managing existing codes

From MarketingDiscount codes you can:
  • Search and filter codes by name or group.
  • Edit usage limits, expiry dates, event restrictions, percentage, and description.
  • Delete one or more codes.
  • View usage — click a code to see which bookings used it and a total usage count.
The code text itself and any affiliate settings cannot be edited after creation.

Bulk import errors

If the duplicate check flags codes after a CSV upload, the upload area shows how many duplicates were found. Remove those rows from your CSV file and upload the corrected file. The rest of your codes are not affected — only the duplicated entries are rejected.
