# Use Nova in AI assistants

> Connect Nova to Claude, Codex, or another AI assistant and ask about your Let's Do This event data from there.

> [!NOTE]
>
> You need a Let's Do This dashboard account with access to
> [Nova](https://partner-help.letsdothis.com/docs/nova/getting-started-with-nova.md). Your AI assistant must support
> connectors, also called MCP servers, that you sign in to.

Nova can run inside the AI assistant you already use. Add it as a connector, sign in with your Let's Do This account, and ask questions there. A connector is an add-on that lets an AI assistant fetch information from another service. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard most AI assistants use for connectors.

This is useful when Nova's answers feed other work in the same assistant. For example, you can pull registration numbers into a report you're drafting. You can also compare sales with notes from another tool, or build a workflow that needs live event data.

Nova in an AI assistant is read-only. It can answer questions, but it can't change events, send emails, or edit anything. Use the Nova dashboard for changes.

## Connector address

Every AI assistant uses the same connector address:

```text theme={null}
https://mcp.letsdothis.com/mcp/nova
```

## Connecting Nova

**Claude**

These steps are for Claude on the web and Claude Desktop.

**1. Add a custom connector**

In Claude, open **Settings** and then **Connectors**. Click **Add
custom connector**. Name it `Nova` and paste the connector address.

If you use Claude through a company plan, an owner of that plan may
need to add the connector first.

**2. Connect**

Click **Connect** next to Nova. A Let's Do This page opens. Sign in if
prompted.

**3. Authorize access**

Review the access options and click **Authorize**. See [Access
options](#access-options) for what each option does.

**Claude Code**

**1. Add Nova**

Run this once in your terminal:

```bash theme={null}
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user nova https://mcp.letsdothis.com/mcp/nova
```

**2. Sign in**

Start Claude Code and type `/mcp`. Choose **nova**, then
**Authenticate**. A Let's Do This page opens in your browser. Sign in
if prompted.

**3. Authorize access**

Review the access options and click **Authorize**. See [Access
options](#access-options) for what each option does.

**Codex**

**1. Add Nova**

Run this once in your terminal:

```bash theme={null}
codex mcp add nova --url https://mcp.letsdothis.com/mcp/nova
```

Codex starts the sign-in straight away. A Let's Do This page opens in
your browser. Sign in if prompted.

If the page doesn't open, or you need to sign in again later, run:

```bash theme={null}
codex mcp login nova
```

**2. Authorize access**

Review the access options and click **Authorize**. See [Access
options](#access-options) for what each option does.

**Other AI assistants**

Other AI assistants can connect if they support remote MCP connectors with
sign-in.

**1. Add a connector**

Find the connector or MCP server settings in your AI assistant. Add a new
connector with the connector address above.

**2. Sign in and authorize**

Start the sign-in from your AI assistant. A Let's Do This page opens. Sign
in if prompted, then click **Authorize**.

After you authorize, you're returned to your AI assistant. Ask a question you'd usually ask Nova in the dashboard to check the connection.

## Access options

The authorization page names the AI assistant you're connecting, such as **Connect Claude to Nova**. Under **Connecting from**, it shows the assistant's website domain, such as `claude.ai` or `chatgpt.com`. It also shows the Let's Do This account you're connecting. Check the domain and the account before you continue. Anyone can give an assistant any name, but the domain can't be faked.

If the page also says **Access is sent to this device**, the assistant runs on your computer, like Claude Code or Codex. Only authorize if you started the connection yourself.

Choose what Nova can do for this assistant:

| Option | What it allows |
| - | - |
| **Read organizer data** | Required. Nova can answer questions about registrations, events, marketing, campaigns, and webpages. |
| **Read financial data** | Optional. Nova can include revenue, payouts, and other financial figures. Clear this option to keep financial data out of answers in this assistant. |

Nova never sees more than your dashboard account can see. If your role can't view financial data, Nova can't show it in your AI assistant either. This applies even if **Read financial data** is selected.

Connecting doesn't share your Let's Do This password with the AI assistant.

## Asking Nova questions

Ask your AI assistant to check with Nova, or ask a question that clearly needs your Let's Do This data. For example:

> Ask Nova how registrations for my next event compare with last year.

The AI assistant sends the question to Nova and shows you Nova's answer. Some assistants summarize or reformat the answer. If you want Nova's exact wording, ask the assistant to show the answer in full.

Answers to bigger questions can take a minute or two.

### Follow-up questions

Follow-up questions continue the same Nova conversation, so Nova keeps the earlier questions in context. To start fresh, tell your AI assistant you're asking about a new topic.

### Choosing an organizer

If you can access more than one organizer, Nova remembers the last one you asked about and uses it again. When Nova can't tell which organizer you mean, your AI assistant lists the organizers you can access and asks you to choose one.

To switch, give the organizer ID in your question. For example:

> Ask Nova about organizer 123456: how many registrations came in this week?

Your organizer ID is the number after `/o/` in your Let's Do This dashboard address.

## Disconnecting Nova

Ask your Technical Account Manager to disconnect Nova from your AI assistant. Afterward, the assistant can't use your Let's Do This access. You can reconnect by following the steps above.

## Good to know

### Changes and actions

If you ask Nova to make a change through an AI assistant, such as creating a discount code, Nova tells you it can't make the change. It often explains how to make the change in your dashboard instead.

### Long questions

Nova has about four minutes to answer each question. If your AI assistant reports that **Nova ran out of time on this turn**, split the question into smaller parts and ask them one at a time.

### Large answers

If an answer is too large to return in full, Nova says so. Ask for a smaller breakdown, such as one event or one month. You can also ask for a [downloadable report](https://partner-help.letsdothis.com/docs/nova/downloadable-reports.md).

### Organizer access

If Nova says you have no access to an organizer, check that you can open it in your Let's Do This dashboard. Also check that Nova is available there. If both work and the error continues, contact your Technical Account Manager.

### Signing in again

Your connection stays signed in while you use it. If you don't use Nova in that assistant for 90 days, you need to sign in again from your AI assistant.

### Expired sign-in pages

If the authorization page says the request is invalid or has expired, return to your AI assistant and start the sign-in again.
