# Getting started with Nova

> Ask Nova questions about your events, from registrations and revenue to ads, capacity, and race-day results, and get plain-language answers in seconds.

<Info>
Nova needs to be enabled for your account before you can use it. If Nova
doesn't appear in your dashboard sidebar, contact your technical account
  manager to get set up.
</Info>

Nova is your AI assistant. Ask it questions about your events in plain language
and get clear answers without running a report. Nova draws on data from across
your account, including registrations, revenue, marketing, capacity, and
race-day results. You can go from a question to an answer in seconds. When Nova's
answer relates to a specific area of your dashboard, it may include a button to
take you there directly.

You can also [use Nova in Slack](/docs/nova/using-nova-in-slack) from a shared
channel between your team and Let's Do This.

## Opening Nova

There are two ways to open Nova in the dashboard:

* **Dedicated page:** click **Nova** in the dashboard sidebar to open the
  full-page chat view.
* **AI Assistant:** on any event page, click the **AI Assistant** button to open
Nova as a panel on the right-hand side of the screen, so you can chat without
  leaving the page you're on.

In the side panel, you can click **Expand fullscreen** to switch to the full-page
view, or **Dock to sidebar** to return to the panel. On mobile, Nova always opens
in fullscreen.

## Asking a question

When you start a new chat, Nova shows a few suggestion categories to help you get
going. Click a category to see a list of pre-written questions you can send with
one click. Or type your own question in the chat input and press **Enter**, or
click **Send**.

You can also tap the microphone icon to ask your question by voice. Once you
start typing, the microphone icon is replaced by the **Send** button.

## What you can ask Nova about

Nova connects data from across your account, so you can ask about far more than
headline numbers. It can also join data across areas in a single answer. For
example, you can ask how average order value differs by demographic, or whether a
recent email drove add-on sales.

* **Registrations:** sign-ups, sales pace, and year-over-year trends.
* **Revenue:** earnings, ticket performance, and average order value.
* **Demographics:** participant profile, gender split, age, and diversity.
* **Marketing and ads:** Meta Ads performance and ROAS, plus email campaign
  results.
* **Capacity:** how close a race is to selling out and how many spaces remain.

Nova can also help with add-ons, race-day results, referrals, and much more.

## Proactive insights and follow-ups

Nova doesn't only answer when asked. On your home page, it surfaces proactive
insights each week across your events, drawing on registrations, ads, traffic,
discount code usage, and progress toward your goals.

You can also ask Nova to revisit an analysis later. It will check back in and let
you know what changed.

* "Analyze how my registration numbers are performing and follow up with me in a
week to let me know what has changed."

## Custom instructions

You can give Nova standing instructions it applies to every conversation. For
example, you can set a preferred format for summaries, or a label that maps to a
set of events you analyze together. See
[Custom instructions](/docs/nova/custom-instructions) to set them up.

## Managing your conversations

### Starting a new chat

Click the **Start new chat** icon in the Nova header to clear the current
conversation and begin a fresh one. Your previous conversation is saved
automatically.

### Viewing past conversations

Your past conversations are saved on the Nova page, sorted by date. A
**Starred** section surfaces conversations that contain messages you've starred,
so you can find key analyses again quickly.

### Renaming and deleting conversations

When you have a conversation open in fullscreen view, its title appears in the
header with a dropdown arrow. Click the arrow to rename or delete the
conversation.

## Giving feedback

**On a single response:** click the **thumbs up** or **thumbs down** icon that
appears below any Nova response. A modal opens where you can add a note
explaining your rating.

**On the overall conversation:** click **Feedback** in the Nova header at any
point during a chat to share broader thoughts on the experience.
