# Charity fundraising

> Connect your event to a fundraising platform so participants can set up a personal fundraising page as part of registration.

Fundraising integration adds a dedicated step to your checkout where participants
can set up a personal fundraising page without leaving the registration flow. The
page is created the moment payment is confirmed and participants are sent directly
to your fundraising platform to activate and share it — all in the same session.

You can offer fundraising as an **optional extra** — participants choose whether
to fundraise — or make it **mandatory**, so participants must select a charity
and agree to fundraise before they can complete their registration. Mandatory
fundraising is commonly used for charity places.

Supported platforms include **JustGiving**, **Enthuse**, **Givestar**,
**GivenGain**, and **GoFundraise**.

## What participants see at checkout

Participants see a fundraising step between their registration details and the
payment screen.

**When fundraising is optional**, participants choose **Yes, I'd like to
fundraise** or **No, not this time**, then proceed. If they choose to fundraise,
they search for and select a charity from the platform's charity list.

**When fundraising is mandatory**, participants must select a charity and confirm
their commitment before they can continue. They cannot complete their registration
without completing this step.

## After payment — getting to the fundraising page

The fundraising page is created automatically the moment payment is confirmed.
On the confirmation screen, participants see a card prompting them to activate
their page:

How they get there depends on the platform your event uses:

* **Enthuse** — a countdown begins automatically. After 8 seconds the participant
  is redirected to their new fundraising page. They can also click the button to
  go immediately.
* **JustGiving and other platforms** — participants click **Activate your
  fundraising page**, which opens their page on the fundraising platform in a
  new tab.

The page is ready to personalize and share straight away.

## Reminder email

If a participant doesn't activate their page right away, the fundraising platform
sends them a follow-up email with a link to return and complete the activation.
This is sent by the platform directly, not by Let's Do This.

If a participant contacts you because they can't find their fundraising page,
direct them to the email they received from the fundraising platform after
registration — it contains a direct link to their page.
