# Branding & Custom Domains

> Apply your visual identity to emails with brand themes, and configure a custom sending domain.

Branding controls how your emails look and where they appear to come from. There are two parts: **brand themes**, which apply your visual identity to the email layout, and **send configuration**, where you can set a custom from address so emails appear to come from your own domain.

## Brand themes

A brand theme is a set of visual settings — primarily colors — that are applied to the structural elements of an email layout: the header, buttons, background, and similar areas. Applying a theme means your emails look like they come from your brand rather than a generic template.

### Creating a theme

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Branding settings">
    In your dashboard, go to **Settings → Branding**. The Branding page lists all themes you have created, with the most recently updated at the top.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create a new theme">
    Click **Create new theme**. The theme editor opens.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Configure the theme">
    Enter a name for the theme and configure the color settings. Your organizer logo is used in the preview so you can see how the email will look with your branding applied.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save the theme">
    Click **Save**. The theme is now available to select when composing a campaign.
  </Step>
</Steps>

### Editing a theme

On the Branding settings page, click a theme card to open it in the editor. Make your changes and click **Save changes**. Updates apply to future sends — emails already sent are not affected.

### Applying a theme to a campaign

When you create or edit a campaign, the **Overview** step includes a **Select brand theme** dropdown. Choose the theme you want to apply. The theme affects how the email's layout elements are rendered — it does not change the content you write in the Builder step.

You can switch themes up until the campaign is sent. If you make changes to the theme after selecting it, the campaign picks up the updated version at send time.

## Send configuration: from email and custom domains

By default, emails from your campaigns are sent from a Let's Do This address. For a more professional appearance, you can configure campaigns to send from your own domain.

### Custom sending domains

To use a custom from email address, your account needs at least one verified sending domain. You set this up yourself in **Settings → Branding → Custom Domains** by adding your domain and adding two records at your DNS provider. See [Custom Domains](/docs/email-communications/custom-domains) for the full process.

Once a domain is verified, the **Use a custom from email** option on the campaign Overview step becomes active.

### Configuring the from address on a campaign

<Steps>
  <Step title="Enable custom from email">
    On the campaign Overview step, check **Use a custom from email**. If the checkbox is greyed out, your account does not yet have a verified sending domain — add one in [Custom Domains](/docs/email-communications/custom-domains) first.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the local part">
    In the field on the left, type the part of the email address before the @. For example, to send from `events@yourdomain.com`, type `events`.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select the domain">
    Choose from the dropdown on the right. It lists the verified domains on your account. Select the domain you want to send from.
  </Step>
</Steps>

The full from address — local part plus domain — is validated before you can proceed. If the address is invalid, an error message tells you what to correct.

### Reply-to address

The **Reply-to name** and **Reply-to email** fields control where participant replies are directed. Set these so that when a participant replies to your email, the message comes to you — not to a Let's Do This inbox.

The reply-to address must be on a verified sending domain, the same as the from address. You set it the same way too: type the part before the @, then choose a verified domain from the dropdown. If you have no verified domain, this option is disabled — see [Custom Domains](/docs/email-communications/custom-domains).

The from and reply-to addresses are independent, so you can send from one address and have replies go to another.
